Everyday conversation tells the family story
Look for the thread where relatives reply to each other: news, meal planning and reactions to small adventures. Familiar habits appear in those exchanges, including the scenic route everyone takes to agree on lunch. A group used only for announcements supplies different material. For a chronicle of your relationships, choose a conversation where family members actually talk to one another.
Select participants who belong to the gathering you have in mind. You might revisit a siblings’ chat, a cousins’ group or the wider family conversation. The aim is a recognisable cast, not every contact sharing a surname. Discuss the project with the people involved and choose exchanges that fit the occasion. A comfortable shared memory is a good place to begin.
A warm reveal needs your own judgement
The report combines portraits, nicknames, commentary and statistics from the imported text, laid out like an illustrated magazine. Michel supplies a fictional editorial character’s perspective; you know the people at the table. Read the result before the gathering and choose what to share. For a warm atmosphere, the way you present a memory matters as much as the occasion itself.
Dessert can wait for its introduction
At a family lunch, suggest a reading after the meal: a portrait, a few reactions, then the group card. Relatives can explain the context of a line or add their own memory. Send cards afterwards to those who want them, and keep the PDF. For people living far away, sharing the report link also lets the family discover it from different places.
Prepare the export using our WhatsApp guide and choose Without media. Michel works with text; cake photographs and voice notes are not analysed. Upload a .txt file or a .zip containing it, with at least 300 parseable messages. Browse the public sample to understand the format before starting. Your own free preview then shows the beginning of the family’s report.
